In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel saw a adream and visions in his mind as he lay on his bed; then he bwrote the dream down and related the following summary of it.

The king said to Daniel, whose name was aBelteshazzar, "Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen and its interpretation?"

Daniel answered before the king and said, "As for the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither awise men, conjurers, magicians nor diviners are able to declare it to the king.

"However, there is a aGod in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will take place in the blatter days. This was your dream and the cvisions in your mind while on your bed.

"I saw a adream and it made me fearful; and these fantasies as I lay on my bed and the bvisions in my mind kept alarming me.

"So I gave orders to abring into my presence all the wise men of Babylon, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

"Then the amagicians, the conjurers, the Chaldeans and the diviners came in and I related the dream to them, but they could not make its binterpretation known to me.

"But finally Daniel came in before me, whose name is aBelteshazzar according to the name of my god, and in whom is ba spirit of the holy gods; and I related the dream to him, saying,

'O Belteshazzar, achief of the magicians, since I know that ba spirit of the holy gods is in you and cno mystery baffles you, dtell me the visions of my dream which I have seen, along with its interpretation.
