Look at the Birds of the Air
Matthew 6:26 NKJV
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
In Mathew 6:8, directly before Jesus teaches us how to pray, He reminds us that our heavenly Father knows exactly what our needs are even before we ask for them. What a load lifted off our shoulders when we truly understand this teaching. We must remember that Jesus is not talking about our wants, but our needs. In verse 26 Jesus tells us that our Father even takes care of the birds, who are not made in His image. We know that God places an infinitely greater worth on human souls as He demonstrated this through Christ's death on the cross. Christ was sent on a rescue mission from the Father to save people not birds, that's how much more He cares for us over them. Take rest in the knowledge that your Father is interested in every intricate detail of our life. If you trust in the Savior, God is your Father and He is watching out for you.
