Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ

Philippians 1:6 NKJV

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Assurance of salvation is written all through the Bible and Paul wants us to be sure that we are confident in the Lord's salvation. If we are we will never return to performance driven acceptance. Paul's emphasis here is that we be "confident" in one thing, that God is the one who saves us, changes us, sanctifies us and keeps us. God never does a poor job of saving His people. If He is the one who began the work in us He will also complete it until the day Christ returns for His bride. Never trust in yourself and your own works, or you will surely see the fruit of that lived out in your life. Faith that needs our works to complete the deal is not saving faith at all. Christ alone paid for our sins in His own body when He hung on the cross (I Peter 2:24). Hope in Him and you can be confident in your salvation on the day of His visitation.
