Be Strong and of Good Courage
Joshua 1:9 NKJV
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
This was the message given by the Lord unto Joshua upon his taking over Moses' role as leader of Israel. What a daunting task this would have been! The Lord gives Joshua words of encouragement and words of warning, "Be strong and courageous", and follows them with, "do not be afraid". Joshua would be taking God's people into enemy territory and reclaiming the land for the glory of God. A task that the Israelite's ran from 40 years earlier under Moses leadership.
We have also been called to reclaim souls that have been captured by the devil to do his will (2 Tim 2:26). We are to go in with boldness and fearlessly fight the good fight of faith. Even as Joshua was told that the reason he should not fear was because the Lord would be with him wherever he went, we are given the same promise in fulfilling the great commission. Matthew 28:19-20 tells us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." So be strong and of good courage dear Christian, for the Lord is with you as you complete the work that He has given you.
