Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had.

Trying to tie in the situation going on in the middle East now between Israel and the Palestinians.
Our position in Christ
My Flesh the old man - Until we reach adulthood we cannot receive the blessings that God has for us.
Ishmael is the Palestinians/Isaac was the Jews
There has been war in the middle East ever since he birth of Ishmael and Isaac. The fight is over the temples.
One was born a promise, and the other was born of the flesh.
There are all types of Christ.
Ishmael is the flesh
Isaac is the mew man.
