And the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand." So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

Job's afflictions began from the malice of Satan, by the Lord's permission, for wise and holy purposes. Hence it concerns us to be sober and vigilant, 1Pe 5:8. See how Satan censures Job.
God knows the end to this story, Satan does not for he tries in futility to lead Job astray. God is the only person who knows our hearts. The devil does not, he has no power, his efforts are infinitesimal in comparison to or sovereign God's knowledge and wisdom
