And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

This is the ONLY time in Revelation that references the sun and moon darkened. THAT MAKES THIS THE SAME EVENT as Matthew 24:29 and Mark 13:24-25. Therefore, the opening of the sixth seal is after the tribulation. Everything before the sixth seal is the tribulation. Everything that comes after the sun and moon being darkened is not the tribulation, it's God pouring out His wrath. The tribulation and the wrath are two different things. The tribulation doesn't go the entire seven years of the main events of Revelation, often called Daniel's seventieth week. The tribulation covers a little more than half of the seven years and the wrath covers the rest.
