And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Concerning chronology, this verse is saying that the 5th trumpet comes after the 144,000 have been sealed in their foreheads. The 144,000 were sealed between the 6th and 7th seal. Furthermore, the 6th seal is after the tribulation (See Revelation 6:12). Therefore, the 5th trumpet must also come after the tribulation. The trumpet judgements are a part of God's wrath, not tribulation. See also Revelation 7:3.
