For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The virtues listed in verses 5-7 will keep me from being unfruitful in the knowledge of Jesus. Focus on walking in the Spirit so He leads you into these virtues that He can easily give to you freely.
