God commanded Adam not to eat, Eve came later and was told by Adam. I believe it is different to hear it from God or from someone else. It is our relationship with Jesus and hearing from Him what we are to do and not do. John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. John 15:3 "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you."
