Will he then make repayment to suit you, because you reject it? For you must choose, and not I; therefore declare what you know.

The chastisement will be according to God's prescription not Job's. This is to tell Job to stop complaining-it was designed of God to chasten him. Job must resolve to repent, God will not do it for him.
