Job
Chapter 37
20
Shall it be told him that I would speak? Did a man ever wish that he would be swallowed up?

Commentary - The idea in this text is that it is dangerous to speak to God. Job had earlier expressed a desire for God to hear him. Is this true or is praying different than speaking to God. Oh I should have read further-Elihu thinks Job is presumptuous in wanting God to hear him. Elihu had not yet been taught that God desires for man to speak to him in prayer and that man is to be earnest in prayer to God. Elihu thinks that to speak directly to God is perilous and could result in destructive judgement.
