So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

The christian sabbath is not the seventh, but the first day of the week, celebrating the rest of God the Son, and the finishing of the work of our redemption. The original sabbath day should commemorate the work of creation, to honor God the Father.
