Isaiah 19

1 The aoracle concerning bEgypt. Behold, the Lord is criding on a swift cloud and is about to come to Egypt; The didols of Egypt will tremble at His presence, And the eheart of the Egyptians will melt within them.
2 "So I will incite Egyptians against Egyptians; And they will aeach fight against his brother and each against his neighbor, City against city and kingdom against kingdom.
3 "Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be demoralized within them; And I will confound their strategy, So that athey will resort to idols and ghosts of the dead And to mediums and spiritists.
4 "Moreover, I will deliver the Egyptians into the hand of a acruel master, And a mighty king will rule over them," declares the Lord GOD of hosts.
5 aThe waters from the sea will dry up, And the river will be parched and dry.
6 The acanals will emit a stench, The bstreams of Egypt will thin out and dry up; cThe reeds and rushes will rot away.
7 The bulrushes by the aNile, by the edge of the Nile And all the sown fields by the Nile Will become dry, be driven away, and be no more.
8 And the afishermen will lament, And all those who cast a line into the Nile will mourn, And those who spread nets on the waters will pine away.
9 Moreover, the manufacturers of linen made from combed flax And the weavers of white acloth will be utterly dejected.
10 And the apillars of Egypt will be crushed; All the hired laborers will be grieved in soul.
11 The princes of aZoan are mere fools; The advice of Pharaoh's wisest advisers has become stupid. How can you men say to Pharaoh, "I am a son of the bwise, a son of ancient kings"?
12 Well then, where are your wise men? Please let them tell you, And let them understand what the Lord of hosts Has apurposed against Egypt.
13 The princes of Zoan have acted foolishly, The princes of aMemphis are deluded; Those who are the bcornerstone of her tribes Have led Egypt astray.
14 The Lord has mixed within her a spirit of adistortion; bThey have led Egypt astray in all that it does, As a cdrunken man staggers in his vomit.
15 There will be no work for Egypt aWhich its head or tail, its palm branch or bulrush, may do.
16 In that day the Egyptians will become like women, and they will tremble and be in adread because of the bwaving of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which He is going to wave over them.
17 The land of Judah will become a terror to Egypt; everyone to whom it is mentioned will be in dread of it, because of the apurpose of the Lord of hosts which He is purposing against them.

Jeremiah 46

2 To aEgypt, concerning the army of bPharaoh Neco king of Egypt, which was by the Euphrates River at cCarchemish, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated in the dfourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:
3 "aLine up the shield and buckler, And draw near for the battle!
4 "Harness the horses, And mount the steeds, And take your stand with helmets on! aPolish the spears, Put on the bscale-armor!
5 "Why have I seen it? They are terrified, They are adrawing back, And their bmighty men are defeated And have taken refuge in flight, Without facing back; cTerror is on every side!" Declares the Lord.
6 Let not the aswift man flee, Nor the mighty man escape; In the north beside the river Euphrates They have bstumbled and fallen.
7 Who is this that arises like the Nile, Like the rivers whose waters surge about?
8 Egypt rises like the Nile, Even like the rivers whose waters surge about; And He has said, "I will arise and cover that land; I will surely bdestroy the city and its inhabitants."
9 Go up, you horses, and adrive madly, you chariots, That the mighty men may march forward: Ethiopia and bPut, that handle the shield, And the cLydians, that handle and bend the bow.
10 For athat day belongs to the Lord GOD of hosts, A day of bvengeance, so as to avenge Himself on His foes; And the csword will devour and be satiated And drink its fill of their blood; For there will be a dslaughter for the Lord GOD of hosts, In the land of the north by the river Euphrates.
11 Go aup to Gilead and obtain balm, bO virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain have you multiplied remedies; There is cno healing for you.
12 The nations have heard of your ashame, And the earth is full of your bcry of distress; For one cwarrior has stumbled over another, And both of them have fallen down together.
13 This is the message which the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the acoming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to bsmite the land of Egypt:
14 "Declare in Egypt and proclaim in aMigdol, Proclaim also in Memphis and bTahpanhes; Say, 'Take your stand and get yourself ready, For the csword has devoured those around you.'
15 "Why have your amighty ones become prostrate? They do not stand because the Lord has bthrust them down.
16 "They have repeatedly astumbled; Indeed, they have fallen one against another. Then they said, 'Get up! And blet us go back To our own people and our native land Away from the csword of the oppressor.'
17 "They cried there, 'Pharaoh king of Egypt is but aa big noise; He has let the appointed time pass by!'
18 "As I live," declares the aKing Whose name is the Lord of hosts, "Surely one shall come who looms up like bTabor among the mountains, Or like cCarmel by the sea.
19 "Make your baggage ready for aexile, O bdaughter dwelling in Egypt, For cMemphis will become a desolation; It will even be burned down and bereft of inhabitants.
20 "Egypt is a pretty aheifer, But a horsefly is coming bfrom the north--it is coming!
21 "Also her amercenaries in her midst Are like fattened bcalves, For even they too have turned back and have fled away together; They did not stand their ground. For the day of their calamity has come upon them, The time of their cpunishment.
22 "Its sound moves along like a serpent; For they move on like an army And come to her as woodcutters with axes.
23 "They have cut down her aforest," declares the Lord; "Surely it will no more be found, Even though they are now more numerous than blocusts And are without number.
24 "The daughter of Egypt has been put to shame, Given over to the power of the apeople of the north."
25 The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says, "Behold, I am going to punish Amon of aThebes, and bPharaoh, and Egypt along with her cgods and her kings, even Pharaoh and those who dtrust in him.
26 "I shall give them over to the power of those who are aseeking their lives, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of his officers. bAfterwards, however, it will be inhabited as in the days of old," declares the Lord.

Ezekiel 30

1 The word of the Lord came again to me saying,
2 "Son of man, prophesy and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "aWail, 'Alas for the day!'
3 "For the day is near, Even athe day of the Lord is near; It will be a day of bclouds, A time of doom for the nations.
4 "A sword will come upon Egypt, And anguish will be in Ethiopia; When the slain fall in Egypt, They atake away her wealth, And her foundations are torn down.
5 "Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all aArabia, Libya and the people of the land that is in league will fall with them by the sword."
6 'Thus says the Lord, "Indeed, those who support aEgypt will fall And the pride of her power will come down; From Migdol to Syene They will fall within her by the sword," Declares the Lord GOD.
7 "They will be desolate In the amidst of the desolated lands; And her cities will be In the midst of the devastated cities.
8 "And they will aknow that I am the Lord, When I set a bfire in Egypt And all her helpers are broken.
9 "On that day amessengers will go forth from Me in ships to frighten bsecure Ethiopia; and canguish will be on them as on the day of Egypt; for behold, it comes!"
10 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "aI will also make the hordes of Egypt cease By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
11 "He and his people with him, aThe most ruthless of the nations, Will be brought in to destroy the land; And they will draw their swords against Egypt And fill the land with the slain.
12 "Moreover, I will make the aNile canals dry And bsell the land into the hands of evil men. And I will make the land desolate And all that is in it, By the hand of strangers; I the Lord have spoken."
13 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "I will also adestroy the idols And make the images cease from bMemphis. And there will no longer be a prince in the land of Egypt; And I will put fear in the land of Egypt.
14 "I will make aPathros desolate, Set a fire in bZoan And execute judgments on cThebes.
15 "I will pour out My wrath on Sin, The stronghold of Egypt; I will also cut off the hordes of Thebes.
16 "I will set a fire in Egypt; Sin will writhe in anguish, Thebes will be breached And Memphis will have distresses daily.
17 "The young men of aOn and of Pi-beseth Will fall by the sword, And the women will go into captivity.
18 "In aTehaphnehes the day will be bdark When I cbreak there the yoke bars of Egypt. Then the pride of her power will cease in her; A cloud will cover her, And her daughters will go into captivity.
19 "Thus I will aexecute judgments on Egypt, And they will know that I am the Lord."'"
20 In the aeleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying,
21 "Son of man, I have abroken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, behold, it has not been bbound up for healing or wrapped with a bandage, that it may be strong to hold the sword.
22 "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I am aagainst Pharaoh king of Egypt and will break his arms, both the strong and the bbroken; and I will make the sword cfall from his hand.
23 'I will ascatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands.
24 'For I will astrengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put bMy sword in his hand; and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, so that he will groan before him with the groanings of a wounded man.
25 'Thus I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he astretches it out against the land of Egypt.
26 'When I scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands, then they will know that I am the Lord.'"

Ezekiel 31

1 In the aeleventh year, in the third month, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying,
2 "Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his ahordes, 'Whom are you like in your greatness?
3 'Behold, Assyria was a acedar in Lebanon With beautiful branches and forest shade, And bvery high, And its top was among the clouds.
4 'The awaters made it grow, the deep made it high. With its rivers it continually extended all around its planting place, And sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.
5 'Therefore aits height was loftier than all the trees of the field And its boughs became many and its branches long Because of bmany waters as it spread them out.
6 'All the abirds of the heavens nested in its boughs, And under its branches all the beasts of the field gave birth, And all great nations lived under its shade.
7 'So it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; For its roots extended to many waters.
8 'The acedars in bGod's garden could not match it; The cypresses could not compare with its boughs, And the plane trees could not match its branches. No tree in bGod's garden could compare with it in its beauty.
9 'I made it beautiful with the multitude of its branches, And all the trees of aEden, which were in the agarden of God, were jealous of it.
10 'Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Because it is high in stature and has set its top among the clouds, and its aheart is haughty in its loftiness,
11 therefore I will give it into the hand of a adespot of the nations; he will thoroughly deal with it. According to its wickedness I have bdriven it away.
12 "aAlien btyrants of the nations have cut it down and left it; on the cmountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen and its boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land. And all the peoples of the earth have dgone down from its shade and left it.
13 "On its ruin all the abirds of the heavens will dwell, and all the beasts of the field will be on its fallen branches
14 so that all the trees by the waters may not be exalted in their stature, nor set their top among the clouds, nor their well-watered mighty ones stand erect in their height. For they have all been given over to death, to the aearth beneath, among the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit."
15 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "On the day when it went down to Sheol I acaused lamentations; I closed the deep over it and held back its rivers. And its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted away on account of it.
16 "I made the nations aquake at the sound of its fall when I made it bgo down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit; and all the well-watered trees of Eden, the choicest and best of cLebanon, were dcomforted in the earth beneath.
17 "They also awent down with it to Sheol to those who were bslain by the sword; and those who were its strength lived cunder its shade among the nations.
18 "To which among the trees of Eden are you thus equal in glory and greatness? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth beneath; you will lie in the midst of the auncircumcised, with those who were slain by the sword. bSo is Pharaoh and all his hordes!"' declares the Lord GOD."

Ezekiel 32

1 In the atwelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying,
2 "Son of man, take up a alamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him, 'You compared yourself to a young blion of the nations, Yet you are like the cmonster in the seas; And you dburst forth in your rivers And muddied the waters with your feet And fouled their rivers.'"
3 Thus says the Lord GOD, "Now I will aspread My net over you With a company of many peoples, And they shall lift you up in My net.
4 "I will leave you on the land; I will cast you on the open field. And I will cause all the abirds of the heavens to dwell on you, And I will satisfy the beasts of the whole earth with you.
5 "I will lay your flesh aon the mountains And fill the valleys with your refuse.
6 "I will also make the land drink the discharge of your ablood As far as the mountains, And the ravines will be full of you.
7 "And when I aextinguish you, I will bcover the heavens and darken their cstars; I will cover the dsun with a cloud And the moon will not give its light.
8 "All the shining alights in the heavens I will darken over you And will set darkness on your land," Declares the Lord GOD.
9 "I will also atrouble the hearts of many peoples when I bbring your destruction among the nations, into lands which you have not known.
10 "I will make many peoples aappalled at you, and their kings will be horribly afraid of you when I brandish My sword before them; and bthey will tremble every moment, every man for his own life, on the day of your fall."
11 For athus says the Lord GOD, "The sword of the king of Babylon will come upon you.
12 "By the swords of the mighty ones I will cause your hordes to fall; all of them are atyrants of the nations, And they will bdevastate the pride of Egypt, And all its hordes will be destroyed.
13 "I will also destroy all its cattle from beside many waters; And athe foot of man will not muddy them anymore And the hoofs of beasts will not muddy them.
14 "Then I will make their waters settle And will cause their rivers to run like oil," Declares the Lord GOD.
15 "When I make the land of Egypt a adesolation, And the land is destitute of that which filled it, When I smite all those who live in it, Then they shall bknow that I am the Lord.
16 "This is a alamentation and they shall chant it. The daughters of the nations shall chant it. Over Egypt and over all her hordes they shall chant it," declares the Lord GOD.
17 In the atwelfth year, on the afifteenth of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying,
18 "Son of man, awail for the hordes of Egypt and bbring it down, her and the daughters of the powerful nations, to the cnether world, with those who go down to the pit;
19 'Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and make your bed with the auncircumcised.'
20 "They shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword. She is given over to the sword; they have adrawn her and all her hordes away.
21 "The astrong among the mighty ones shall speak of him and his helpers from the midst of Sheol, 'They have gone down, they lie still, the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.'
22 "aAssyria is there and all her company; her graves are round about her. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword,
23 whose agraves are set in the remotest parts of the pit and her company is round about her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword, who spread terror in the land of the living.
24 "aElam is there and all her hordes around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised to the blower parts of the earth, who instilled their terror in the cland of the living and dbore their disgrace with those who went down to the pit.
25 "They have made a abed for her among the slain with all her hordes. Her graves are around it, they are all uncircumcised, slain by the sword (although their terror was instilled in the land of the living), and they bore their disgrace with those who go down to the pit; they were put in the midst of the slain.
26 "aMeshech, bTubal and all their hordes are there; their graves surround them. All of them were slain by the sword cuncircumcised, though they instilled their terror in the land of the living.
27 "aNor do they lie beside the fallen bheroes of the uncircumcised, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war and whose swords were laid under their heads; but the punishment for their ciniquity rested on their bones, though the terror of these heroes was once in the land of the living.
28 "But in the midst of the uncircumcised you will be broken and lie with those slain by the sword.
29 "There also is aEdom, its kings and all its princes, who for all their might are laid with those slain by the sword; they will lie with the uncircumcised and with those who go down to the pit.
30 "There also are the chiefs of the anorth, all of them, and all the bSidonians, who in spite of the terror resulting from their might, in shame went down with the slain. So they lay down uncircumcised with those slain by the sword and bore their disgrace with those who go down to the pit.
31 "These Pharaoh will see, and he will be acomforted for all his hordes slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his army," declares the Lord GOD.
32 "Though I instilled a terror of him in the land of the living, yet he will be made to lie down among the uncircumcised along with those slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his hordes," declares the Lord GOD.
