Interesting Job knows and obeys the Law before it is ever written down. He even understands the spirit of the Law as his claims to righteousness foreshadow Jesus' sermon on the mount. While he is wrong to find himself completely blameless or to make a case of his works before God, he does seem to know what God required of man and has been very faithful to walk in those ways. … Expand

Job seems to place the blame for all this on God (although vs 11 alludes to the wicked, implicating God in a more passive sense, but most of His speech places God in a more active role). Why not on Satan? Did they not have a theology at that time of the Evil One? This is God's permissive will of course. But His allowance of calamity isn't the same as Him executing the events. … Expand
