24 "Damascus has become helpless; She has turned away to flee, And panic has gripped her; aDistress and pangs have taken hold of her Like a woman in childbirth.
25 "How the acity of praise has not been deserted, The town of My joy!
26 "Therefore, her ayoung men will fall in her streets, And all the men of war will be silenced in that day," declares the Lord of hosts.
27 "I will aset fire to the wall of Damascus, And it will devour the fortified towers of bBen-hadad."

Amos 1

3 Thus says the Lord, "For athree transgressions of bDamascus and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they threshed Gilead with implements of sharp iron.
4 "So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael And it will consume the citadels of aBen-hadad.
5 "I will also abreak the gate bar of Damascus, And cut off the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, And him who holds the scepter, from Beth-eden; So the people of Aram will go exiled to bKir," Says the Lord.
