It's neat to see how the servant was only called to go as Abraham asked! God sent an angel before the servant!

Second time God's word reveals that we should fear God over our own flesh and bones! First with Lot offering his daughter to the men of Sodom and now willing to sacrifice his only son! Expand

For Abraham to say that we will return to you reveals his faith that God would provide. Abraham prior to Sodom and Gomorrah being destroyed revealed God's character. Not to destroy the just! He promised him that He would make Him a great nation and that Isaac will be Abraham's heir! Expand

God tests us as He test Abraham however God does not tempt us to do evil! He test our faithfulness to Him to see if we fear Him!

Illustration of God's sovereignty and our blindness to see that God gives us the ability not to give into sin! How much we need God to deliver us from evil each day!

I guess Abraham didn't learn his lesson for his deceit as noted in Gen. 12 to the Egyptian pharaoh. Last time the Pharaoh and his household was struck with great plagues!

Sacrificing his daughters to a multitude of rapist! First response would be how wicked that would be. Deep down inside it seems as though Lot is illustrating his love for God as he recognizes them as angels of the Lord! Did he really think that was the right thing to do? I think Lot has adapted to the environment and His thought process was corrupt. I believe the right thing to do would be to pray to seek God to save them! He probably loves the people of the city and feared more for their life and possibly the life of his own household knowing that these angels could destroy the city and everyone in it! The story of the flood may be on the forefront of his mind! Expand
