These were fair weather friends, who left Job when his trials became rough. Now that Job is over his trials, they flock back. Sometimes our closest friends and relatives will be the first to forsake us in time of trouble. there actions were 1) eating in his house; show comfort to Job, which he could have used during his trials 3) gave gifts for those who had survived difficult times a custom in those days. … Expand

Job prayed for these men when he was still suffering greatly. Some of the best medicine for a suffering person is to help others in their suffering. Being more concerned about the needs of others than your own needs will definitely alleviate your own suffering. Job's recompense was very great. It is a promise to all that God will recompense liberally all who honor Him. Sometimes, when trials overwhelm, we wonder if God will ever recompense our faithfulness. It took a lot of humility for the three friends of Job to do as the Lord commanded, but if you are going to obey God you will often have to walk the humble road. Completeness of submission involved participation. They all three submitted and they did exactly what God told them to do. If we want the rewards of obedience, we must fulfill the requirements of obedience. The Lord accepted Job, he also accepted the people for whom Job prayed. The sinful men were accepted in Job, sinners are accepted by God through Jesus.We can not obtain acceptance by ourselves but must come to God through another. … Expand

The three friend were under the wrath of God. Having to go to Job to make the sacrifices was humbling for the three friends. Going to Job for prayer elevated Job greatly in spiritual matters. But going to Job involved more than just prayer, it involved spiritual position. Job would be the officiating priest, the spiritual superior. The friends had elevated themselves above Job in their speeches, it is not easy to pray for those who have mistreated us. Job is greatly exonerated before his friends. … Expand

Poor speaking about God was the sin that prompted the requirement for Job's three friends. The sin was sacrilegious, speaking dishonorably about God and it was a serious sin. This provoked God. It predicted judgement. Dishonoring God will bring punishment from God and it will be fair. This exonerated Job and God call Job my servant. We either serve God or Satan. … Expand

His discernment is in the spiritual area, especially in the knowledge of God. It was increased because he listened earnestly to God's word. He recognized his depravity before God., showing the reaction of getting close to God. His increase in knowledge about God affected his attitude about self. The trial had affected Job's discernment in a positive way. Job says that what he knew previously was what he had only heard by his ear, but now after God had spoken, Job feels he has so increased in his discernment of God that it is like going from mere hearing about something to actually seeing it with one's own eyes. … Expand

The skin of the leviathan is so strong that a sword or spear or dart or other weapon cannot penetrate it. verse 30 is speaking about the imprint that his animal makes upon soil when he either lies on it or moves on it. … Expand
