Matthew 21:33-41... this parable is so confounding it. It basically discusses what the people did when God sent His prophets & messengers to them. Jesus described how the people, represented by the husbandmen, tortured and killed each prophet. The most striking is when Jesus mentions how God, who is the owner of the vineyard, sends his only son, which is Jesus, to take of the fruits from the vineyard, and the husbandmen killed the owner's only son. Jesus, just told the people what they will do to him, is not different then how they treated those who came before him. The most important point is when they answered they will soon taste the wrath of the owner... which is God. Expand

Matt 18:23-27 talks about God's compassion for us & His ability to forgive us when we humble ourselves & ask for forgiveness. Matt 18:28-34 reminds us to have that same compassion for one another. We should just as easily forgive one another as God has forgiven us. We should not hold each other's debts against each other & punish each other, through lack of forgiveness. Instead, God wants us to have compassion for one another and forgive each other, just like He has compassion for us & forgives us. Expand

Final days of judgment: As the parable begins, the idea of Adam, Eve, the garden of Eden & the serpent come to mind. When God made the garden along with Adam & Eve, everything was good. He sowed good seed into a good field. Then along comes the serpent, who plants the idea of disobedience into Eve's mind. She disobeys God, eats from the Tree of Good/Evil, and sin entered into the world. God had the chance to destroy everything, He did not. Instead He cast them out of the garden. Later on we all wait for the final day of judgement or the "final harvest." Where God will separate the good from the bad (wheat from the weeds). The good (wheat) He will take in & the bad (weeds) will be cast into the fire (Hell). Just as one does during a harvest. Expand

I believe this is how Jesus was able to be born from the line of Abraham. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his only son. Since Ishmael & his mother Hagar were sent away, Isaac was Abraham's only son & only lineage left to him. Instead of God destroying this only lineage. He spares the life of Isaac. Later on we see that, yes, "God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering." That lamb referenced in Gen 22:8 is Jesus. God will later sacrifice not a son of man, but His only begotten son, which is THE SON of MAN. Expand

Matthew 12:10-12. This is good clarification and Jesus points out a double standard. What the people see as "work" on the Sabbath, Jesus sees it as doing good on the Sabbath. If a man is hungry & needs to eat, no one there is to provide food, then his manner of nourishment is not considered unholy. Jesus went further into saying healing someone on the Sabbath is no different than helping your horse/sheep who has fallen in deep water. He questions if the animal is more important than a man. Considering how in Gen, God placed man higher than the animals. Expand

Matthew 9:36-38... Jesus has such compassion for the people, he is moved to pray for others to come and help. He actually was praying for preachers, pastors, disciples, ministers, to help come and win souls for the kingdom. He can do it all, but how wonderful would it be to say, "Yes, Lord, I will help bring in the harvest." I don't believe Jesus was overwhelmed with the task, I believe He knew when he left this world, he wanted to know who would continue to do his work. Which is why he was praying for laborers. Expand

Her faith was just as strong as the centurion. The centurion took faith in Jesus authority and his word to heal his servant. He did not need Jesus actual presence and him to actually lay hands on the person to heal him. His faith in Jesus word was enough. Here is another demonstration of faith. The woman did not need to have Jesus' hands laid upon her to make her well. She had enough faith to know, by just being near him, by just being close enough to touch the hem of his garment, she would be made whole. Now, this is true faith. When you can believe so strongly for healing, before the manifestation happens. Believe enough to say, "Lord, you don't have to put hands on me, but let me just touch you ever so gently, I know this will be enough. Expand

Can't fix what isn't broken!! It's important to see Jesus was not prejudice against those who were in need. He didn't say because you are poor you can't have salvation or because you are too rich you can't be saved. No, instead he catered to everyone's need no matter how their need looked in another person's eyes. Expand

The power is in the Word. We use our authority to give power to our words. This is also demonstrates great faith in that the centurion did not require Jesus' physical presence for a miracle to take place. The centurion recognized that Jesus carried authority & with his authority his word had power. Expand

Going further, after checking online... I was on the right track about idolatry. The tower was made of man made material, brick & tar. It was not made by material God created stone & cement. In addition, He saw the people's intent, but understood humans have the ability to do both good & evil when united. To prevent such a union for being used in an evil manner, He destroyed the tower, scattered the people, and confused their language so they could not understand each other. I at first did not understand God's intention, but after reading several times, His intentions was to protect us. Expand

Matthew 7:1-5 discusses the importance of not judging others. The way we judge others can be turned against us, in that we will be judged the some way. Verses 3-5 are very important. We often don't see ourselves as the problem. We often find fault in someone else, when we are actually the real issue. Verses 3-5 in short tell is to check ourselves before we start checking other people. We have to clean the filter & dirt from our eyes in order to see things more clearly, to see the other person's perspective, and to also make sure we are not looking at the situation in a judgmental manner. This chapter addresses a few things. First it talks about how to give alms, the proper way to pray, forgiveness, fasting, where to keep our treasures, and provision. Each is done in a manner to remind us God will bless us for doing the right things, and He will provide for us when we do not have. All that we do secretly to please Him, he rewards us openly! The importance though, is in all things seek God's counsel first in order for Him to bless you. Expand

This scripture starts off with a crying out of to God. David is in distress, but he is reminded to be still when he prays upon is head. In the end of the scripture David does not seem as distressed. Rather he knows he can rest in peace at night, because this is how God commanded it to be. Not only that, but he knows God will keep him safe. God will keep us safe through the night, so that we can rest peacefully even though we have had a stressful day. Expand
